Glee’s “Darren Criss” considered for possible spin off

Blaine and the Warblers are extremely loved by fans.

However, is it possible that Darren Criss could transfer the character to another show? It seems there is the possibility this could happen, particularly if it means he could stay connected to the “Glee” phenomenon.

In an interview with reporters last week at the Oxygen Upfront Presentation in New York, Criss said, “Hey, I’m just happy to be invited to the party. A spinoff, whatever they want. I’m happy where I am.”

Criss, who is 24 years old, has acted in 9 installments of “Glee” and will probably appear in several additional shows this season. He plays Blaine, who mentored Kurt Hummel (who is portrayed by Chris Colfer, a soprano) and was instantly a smash with fans. When Blaine and Kurt shared their first kiss, a controversy arose.

Even though Criss did not appear in “Glee” until the second season, he has been intrigued by the show before it was every even in production. He auditioned for the part of Finn, which was eventually given to Cory Monteith.

Criss said, “I think Blaine serves a really cool function in the grander scheme of ‘Glee,’ so I don’t think we need to focus particularly” on a spinoff. “But if they want to do it, hey, I’m down. Whatever they want.

A spinoff has not been mentioned by anyone close to Fox or “Glee”, so any discussion is simply rumor.

The second season of “Glee” has seen an amazing growth in ratings. It has increased by 25%, which is the most of any show in 2011. In addition, “Glee” is rated the highest out of any scripted show on Fox. This is an incredible achievement because it is not shown in conjunction with the highest-rated show on television, “American Idol.”

The show continues to score high numbers even though it is on at the same time as the highest-rated scripted show on TV, CBS’ “NCIS.”

“Glee” is the anchor on Tuesday night’s Fox lineup and is included in a lineup with the highly praised (but ratings-deprived) “Raising Hope.”

“Glee” is on at 8:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays on Fox.
