Glee to Embark on 16-City North American Tour in May

Posted by Janice Bryant On February 9, 2011

So admit it. You thought the pitiful 4 city tour by Glee last year was a travesty of epic proportions. It seems the shows’ producers have felt your pain. Starting May 21 in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center, the Gleeks will look to spread their love of song to sixteen cities with performances running right up until they are slated to head to the UK. Some of the prime stops include Boston (June 6), Philadelphia (June 8), Chicago (June 3), Toronto (June 11) and Los Angeles (May 28). Checkout the Glee tour page for an up-to-date listing of all the 2011 stops. California seems a particular embarrassment of riches, scoring 5 of the sixteen dates. This slate of dates also puts ‘Glee Live,’ as its been dubbed, on the big stage, playing largely arenas throughout the US whereas last years’ mini-tour favored more intimate theatres.

Like last tour, you’ll see your favorite cast members including Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Naya Rivera and Harry Shum Jr. But wait there’s more. New additions Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet will be shaking their groove thing with the crew. Sadly, there will be no Mr. Schue or Sue Sylvester like last time, but those fans of Matthew Morrison stay tuned for his upcoming solo tour. The Glee tour song selection will be a select mix of your favorites from “Don’t Stop Believin” and “New York State of Mind” to “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Toxic.”

Tickets are set to go onsale to the general public through Ticketmaster on Saturday, February 19. For those lucky enough to have an AMEX tucked in your wallet, you’ll get a shot at presale ticket on Friday, February 11. So mark your calendars and warm up those vocal chords because you know with the cast’s hectic shooting schedule, it will be a long while before they take to the road again.
