Last Wednesday, Glee’s cast made an appearance on “The Oprah Show” as honored guests. Oprah joined the “Gleek” band wagon, dedicating an entire hour to a musical number and interviewing the cast along with other goodness behind the scenes.
The famous students from Glee performed “Somebody to Love” in front of the fan filled audience. Even Oprah was bopping along with the newest sensation from Hollywood. Oprah then transformed her stage into the Glee McKinley High choir room. No stone for Glee was left unturned by Oprah as she interviewed Rachel (Lea Michele), Mr. Schuster (Matthew Morrison, the new heart throb in America) and Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), the woman everybody loves to hate.
Oprah provided footage from behind the scenes, looking at a day in the life of the cast while they were learning new dances. The show also featured a Burbank, CA show choir. Some cast members from Glee surprised the high school students from John Burroughs High, telling them they were headed for Chicago and would appear on Glee. The choir, dressed in makeup and period costumes, gave an amazing performance of Madonna’s “4 Minutes” and “Vogue.” Oprah, being the generous woman that she is, told the school they would be receiving $100,000 to assist their program funding and also get a new piano.
It was a very refreshing and upbeat show. The cast seemed to be having as much fun watching the performance of the choir kids as they did while on stage. It was a busy week for the cast. They also made a White House appearance. Glee’s spring premiere with air on Tuesday night April 13, following American Idol.
