Jenna Ushkowitz Talks About Death in ‘Glee’ Family

Posted by Janice Bryant On May - 11 - 2011

It was really hard for Jenna Ushkowitz to film the mysterious “Glee” death.

On the current season’s final episode, an unnamed character is going to pass away. Ushkowitz, who portrays the “Glee” character Tina Cohen-Chang, admits that while filming the scenes the entire cast was upset. It was very sad, you know. Any type of death of course is sad. It takes you to a place that you would rather not go to. It kind of affected everyone. It was tough. However, the episode was done very well.

The 25 year old Jenna is hoping fans will appreciate this storyline. She also thinks they will enjoy the sad scenes.

Ushkowitz added, it’s very sweet. I think it will be appreciated by people. It was done the right way. They will be sad, however I think people will feel for all of the characters affected by this. Any death, particularly on “Glee” where you aren’t expecting something like this to happen, you will be thinking “oh wow.” The fans I think are going to be a bit shocked. I think the fans will end up liking it.

Recently the “Glee” cast shot scenes in New York on location. Jenna would love getting a storyline, which would mean getting to work in Chicago.

I have always loved Chicago, she said. I am not sure where our next show is going to be. Who knows what next season is going to bring.

Gwyneth Patrow to Make Surprise Appearance on Glee Tour

For people who have purchased tickets for the “Glee” live tours to take place during the next couple of months, there is good news. You may get a visit from a favorite guest star.

Gwyneth Paltrow, in a BBC 2 interview, hinted she had been asked to participate in some type of guest appearance. However she did not confirm she would be at the shows in person. Odds are Paltrow will film a video appearance (like last year when Matthew Morrison did that) or she could end up at live shows when the gang heads overseas. (Paltrow and husband Chris Martin live in London).

Included as headliners for the “Glee” tour are New Direction members, selected Dalton Academy Warblers and Darren Criss.

Original Matthew Morrison Song Coming to ‘Glee’

Posted by Allison Francis On May - 9 - 2011

According to a story from Hollywood Reporter Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Scheuster (the glee club adviser on the show), will be singing a song off his new album.

On Tuesday Morrison will release his self-titled debut. He will be singing “Still Got Tonight.” The song was co-written by Kris Allen, who won “Idol” in season 8. Morrison said he asked Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of “Glee,” if he would be able to sing the original tune. Some changes were made by Murphy to the script.

Morrison said, originally it was going to be a huge dance piece and I was going to do a big dance number. However they said they wanted me to sing and make the moment a big one.

According to Murphy the song fit into what the producers of the show were considering for that episode.

Murphy said, the song is about aspiration. The reason it worked was because they were wanting a scene that has Matt going into a hall on Broadway and singing something by himself. Also, Matt is an awesome team player. He has done a lot for various “Glee” charities.

On May 24 the season finale of “Glee” will air.

Glee Producer Launches Record Label

Posted by Allison Francis On May - 9 - 2011

It is clear that Glee has taken over the realm of pop music and for more proof of that, Glee producer Adam Anders is introducing his new record label.

Over 100 songs on the popular television show have been co-produced by Anders, and he doesn’t intend to leave his television roots behind. The new label, Anders Music Records, will release the first album for Shane Harper, who is known for playing Spencer Walsh on Good Luck Charlie, a show on the Disney Channel. The label also intends to release albums for Ben Burgess and Zac Poor in the near future.

Harper’s first single sold only 3,000 downloads even after it was heard on the Disney program, but Anders isn’t giving up yet. “I don’t believe in putting out a single and then if it doesn’t hit, drop the artist. We are here to develop artists – there is no timetable for getting it right.”

Anders is currently creating a reality show for Zac Poor, who is from Montana, entitled “The Poor House.” Anders said, “With Shane, Disney offers platforms. With Zac, we have to create them.” He also indicated that the label intends to work with other music besides teen pop. “I’m 35 and I tend to gravitate toward younger artists. But if the singer is 30 and the music’s great, I’ll consider it.”

Glee does not seem to be waning in popularity in the slightest. In fact, the cast has had more songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list than Elvis Presley. More recently, the program has started singing original music including Loser Like Me, which was co-written by Max Martin. In June, the Glee tour will kick off along with a 3D movie to accompany it.

‘Glee’ Goes 3D with Tour Film to Hit Theaters

Posted by Allison Francis On May - 4 - 2011

Over the winter, Justin Bieber was a hit in the movie theaters with his big-screen concerts. It appears that “Glee” wants to follow in his footsteps this summer. According to 20th Century Fox, the forthcoming “Glee Live! In Concert!” tour will be filmed and turned into a 3D movie that will hit the theaters on August 12.

The movie will feature older songs from the television series, including “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Loser Like Me.” There will also be many new songs like “Teenage Dream” and “I’m a Slave 4 U” in the movie as well.

The majority of the young people who have made “Glee” a hit on television will perform in the concerts and in the movie. This includes Amber Riley, Lea Michele, and Cory Monteith. Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, along with other older members of the television cast have not been connected to the movie. In the past, Morrison and Lynch only showed up at certain times during the tour.

According to a Fox employee, the movie will include narrative footage that will be captured throughout the 2011 tour. The first concert is set to be in Las Vegas on May 21 and the last concert will be in New York on June 18. The tour includes a stop at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on May 28.

Fox is referring to the movie as a “limited two-week engagement,” however these limited showings have known to be extended in the event that fans are showing up to see them. Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” is a prime example.

The director of the movies is Kevin Tancharoen, who also directed “Fame.” The creator of the television series, Ryan Murphy, will produce the film.

With the filming of “Glee” for the big screen, it indicates a trend toward filming live events that allow fans to get closer to their favorite musical groups, which they are not able to do at home.

The “Glee” film is set to come out before the television series has its season premiere in the fall. In addition, it will be released at a time when not a lot of other movies are coming out. Moreover, it is believed that the movie will bring in a younger audience because it focuses on themes that are relevant to that age group, whereas the television series tends to focus on more adult ideas.
