We all know that Karofsky, McKinley High’s hard hitting jock and bully from the popular FOX series “Glee”, is gay or if we give him the benefit of the doubt, he might be probably just confused. But whether he’s gay or not, actor Max Adler clearly is enjoying the challenge in playing the role of a school terrorist, whose bullying ways led Kurt to transfer to Dalton Academy.
So will Karofsky be finally coming out of the closet in the all-new episode of “Glee” (entitled ‘Born this Way’) airing tomorrow night? Adler spoke to TV Guide but he doesn’t give a straight answer.
“There’s this great tension that everybody feels in this circle that adds to the final result…I felt most proud of that scene as far as the whole body of work on Glee,” the circle he refers to is the scene where he apologizes to Kurt and his father, in front of Principal Figgins and Will Schuester. “Everyone wants to see that weight lifted,” Adler adds, “However, I do think it should take its proper time and its due course. Karofsky is such a great character to play as an arc because you can show the internal struggle that a closeted teen is going through on a daily basis.” So it looks like this big bully won’t be coming out anytime soon.
As for acting alongside series regular Naya Rivera who plays Santana, Karofsky’s female counterpart who is as bad of a bully and closeted as he is, Adler is impressed with the actress’ ability to transform as soon as the director yells ‘action!’
“She brings all her A game to every scene. I can hear it one way going over the lines in my trailer, but when I get to set, it really brings it to life to have her there to work opposite.”
