Glee’s Ryan Murphy, Kings of Leon Drummer Duke It Out

Kings of Leon Drummer tweeted that Ryan Murphy, Glee writer, should ‘get a therapist, get a manicure, get a new bra.’

The battle between Glee writer, Ryan Murphy and Kings of Leon has reached a new level. Murphy told the Hollywood Reporter that the Kings of Leon are “self-centered assholes” because they decided not to allow a song of theirs to be used on the television program. In response, Nathan Followill, Kings of Leon Drummer tweeted that the writer should “see a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra.” This post is no longer available on Twitter.

Followill also said that Murphy should “zip your lip and focus on educating seven-year-olds how to say fuck.” This tweet appears to signal the end of taking the high ground as was the strategy of Nathan’s brother, Caleb who is also a member of Kings of Leon. Caleb told Hollywood Reporter when questioned about why the Glee writer was so angry at the group that the band members had not seen the show and they did not want to use it to promote their song “Use Somebody”.

Murphy then sent an email to Perez Hilton stating that Nathan Followill is homophobic and indicated that contrary to Followill’s statement “most gay dudes” are not in the habit of wearing bras. Murphy further went on to say that even though Glee writers and producers enjoy Kings of Leon’s songs, he “cannot condone or even laugh at their clear disdain of gay people.”

Following the backlash, Nathan apologized for his statements on Twitter and explained that he never wanted to come across as misogynistic or homophobic.

Elton John Ready to be on ‘Glee,’ Just Waiting on His Invite

Posted by Janice Bryant On January - 24 - 2011

Just about everyone would love seeing Sir Elton John make an appearance on “Glee.”

The 63 year old Elton John- who is a new father- said during Gnomeo & Juliet’s Hollywood premiere, I love Glee!

However, one thing is standing between the guest spot and John on Fox’s hit show…

So far the pop star hasn’t been invited.

John said, I would love being on “Glee,” however they have to ask you to be on the show.

John also said that he and Matthew Morrison, one of the stars of “Glee,” recently worked together in the recording studio.

Last Monday, I did a duet with him of “Rocket Man” and “Mona Lisa and Madhatter.” It’s coming out this spring. It sounds brilliant.

You’d think Mr. Schue in real life would have made an offer at least to Sir Elton, who as a six time Grammy award winner.

John laughed, no. He’s not the only person on the show.

Although you might not see Elton John roaming McKinley High’s hall anytime soon, he did say he was very happy with his two original songs he did for Gnomeo & Juliet’s soundtrack. One of the songs, “Hello Hello” he sings as a duet with another pop superstar, Lady Gaga.

Winners of ‘Glee Project’ Will Get Roles on Fox Series

Have you ever fantasized about belting a show stopping duet out with Lea Michele? How about walking to class hand in hand with that hunk Cory Monteith while humming your favorite song? Guess what? That fantasy could come true for one very lucky Glee fan.

The producers of “Glee” are searching for talent with a reality show called “The Glee Project.” Ryan Murphy, the creator of “Glee,” is signed up to produce this reality spin-off. As we all know, anything Murphy creates is sure to be amazing.

Debuting in June, the winner of the show will receive a seven-episode run on “Glee.” Originally the show was scheduled to broadcast on Fox. However after Ryan stepped back so he could focus on “Glee’s” second season, it was put on hold. Oxygen quickly snatched the spin-off up in addition to “Glee” rerun rights. More than 400,000 people applied for the show. Most were movie and Broadway actors. (Hey what about little people like us? Can we get an audition?) Singers will be trying to provide their best performances and hope to awe the producers of “Glee.” Each week participants will be eliminated, similar to how “American Idol” does it, until ultimately a winner prevails.

There hasn’t been any news about a second season yet. However, if this new reality show becomes a hit and there’s a discovery made of some with talent like Rachel Berry, then why wouldn’t there be? Dante Di Loreto, the executive producer of “The Glee Project,” said hopefully the show will be successful so we can it again. “Glee” has grown some talent. Hopefully with “The Glee Project” we’ll be able to continue that.
