Paltrow to Return to Glee on Super Bowl Episode

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 27 - 2010

For those who have enjoyed Gwyneth Paltrow’s stint at the highly raved FOX dramedy series “Glee”, which is now on its second season, good news then as the Academy Award winning actress returns to the show just in time for the show’s Super Bowl episode set to air on February 1st. If you would recall, Paltrow portrayed the role of a substitute teacher for Will Schuester’s Spanish class and eventually, Glee Club.

Paltrow will be joined by broadcast journalist Katie Couric where she interviews Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester for her losers of 2010 list. Call Sue Sylvester any name except for loser or she’ll throw a tantrum the size of a planet, or as Jane Lynch described it, “…the likes of which no one has ever seen before…. I try to destroy the locker room and principal’s office. I try to shoot one of my cheerleaders from a cannon.”

Looks like an epic “Glee” episode if you’d ask me. Meanwhile, if you can’t wait till February to see Paltrow in “Glee”, you can catch her in the big screen instead, in the movie “Country Strong”.

Glee’s Heather Morris to the be Next Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 20 - 2010

There is more confusion over whether or not Heather Morris, “Glee” actress who plays the role of cheerleader Brittany Pierce, is being considered to star in an instantly controversial and recently announced remake of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

The rumors about Morris started almost instantly following the announcement of the project. However screenwriter Whit Anderson promptly denied the rumor with his comment on Twitter last Monday. He said, the script hasn’t even been written year. We haven’t even started to think about the casting yet.

On Thursday at an event, the actress spoke with Access Hollywood. She repeated the rumors cheerily about her being under consideration for the role.

She said, they are considering me. I almost peed when I found that out. I was really excited. If Buffy is made while Glee’s on hiatus, I won’t care at all what I do. Even if all I do is run though and do nothing and I’m not even Buffy.

If as was previously reported, Warner Bros is gearing up for a 2012 release of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” it would completely make sense that they would be looking for actresses already for the lead role. Odds are Morris could be one of many other actresses who are being considered. Or the screenwriter might know more regarding the project’s status and is right about the fact that the producers and Warner Bros aren’t thinking yet about an actress before having a decent script on hand. It could be that only the early rumors were heard by Morris, but the comments from Anderson weren’t passed on. The tweets by the writer have been removed. Warner Bros probably requested it.

There is plenty of confusion either way surrounding what is rumor and what is truth about the new “Buffy” project. Joss Whedon, the original creator, isn’t involved even though he just finished writing a comic book that stars the character that follows up from the popular television show he created.

UK Glee Tour Tacks on Two More Dates in London

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 4 - 2010

Due to popular and overwhelming demand, Ryan Murphy, co-creator of “Glee,” and Twentieth Century Fox Television have announced an additional two “Glee Live! In Concert!” dates, which brings the total to nine total European shows.

Murphy said, the response from overseas fans has been incredible. Tickets for our shows have sold out in minutes. We are thrilled being able to announce more shows at London’s O2 Arena for June 28 and 29. We promise we will put on a great show.

Following last year’s live stage concerts that played to great acclaim and sold out crowds in four cities in America, Ryan Murphy and Twentieth Century Fox Television announced recently that the cast from “Glee” would be returning this summer to the concert stage, only this time it would be in Europe. Although no engagements for North America have been announced yet, Murphy did promise that very soon there will be some exciting news.

Starting on June 22 at Manchester’s MEN Arena “Glee” will star Finn (played by Cory Monteith), Rachel (portrayed by Lea Michele), Mercedes (Amber Riley), Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Artie (Kevin McHale), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Puck (Mark Salling), Sam (Chord Overstreet), Santana (Naya Rivera), Quinn (Dianna Agron), Brittany (Heather Morris), Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) and Blaine (Darren Criss) performing in a new dancing and singing celebration of the Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning show.

This exclusive European “Glee Live! In Concert!” engagement is a one of a kind concert experience that Murphy once again has conceived. Live performances will be included of some of the more memorable musical numbers from the show from the first two seasons, including “Don’t Stop Believin,” the show’s anthem, “It’s My Life” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Toxic,” and “Empire State of Mind.” The Los Angeles Times described the show as triumphant, while USA described the concerts last year as equal parts pop culture phenomenon, musical theater and Journey-loving rock concert.

Oxygen Reality Show The Glee Project Auditions in 2011

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 4 - 2010

If you are a major fan of “Glee” wanting to prove you have the talent for being more than a mere fan, there’s a new reality “Glee” television show on Oxygen Network for you to audition for.

Fox “Glee” producers and the Oxygen network are setting a reality “Glee” show up entitled “The Glee Project.” The winner’s prize will be a guesting-starring role in multiple episodes on “Glee’s” third season.

You need to be at least 18 years old, standard for showbiz, but still fresh faced enough that you look like a believable teenage high schooler. All of a sudden all the times you’ve been carded might not seem so bad.

In addition to looking young, you’ll need to prove you can act, dance and sing. No small order, I know. If you have a background in musical theater, that’s a major plus.

Katie Couric Moves to Fox for Guest Slot on Glee

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 3 - 2010

Katie Couric might just be trading in her news desk job for New Directions after making a “Glee” appearance.

According to a New York Post source, the Anchor of CBS Evening News will make a guest appearance on the hit television series on FOX.

According to the insider, it’s a done deal. Katie will be making a cameo appearance as herself. The episode will be filmed soon. The source added that the chipper Couric, former Yorktown High School cheerleader in Virginia, will reportedly be sharing scenes with Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch), the acerbic Cheerios coach.

Who knows? They might even pair up and do a segment of “Sue’s Corner” on WOHN News.

It is expected that Couric will appear in the post-Super Bowl February 6 episode of “Glee.” Couric won’t be the only or first famous face that has visited McKinley High. John Stamos, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Newton-John and Britney Spears are among other celebrities who have guest starred as well.

Glee to Graduate Stars Off the Show in 2012

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 2 - 2010

Several of the stars on “Glee” will likely be leaving the show in late 2010 according to Ryan Murphy, creator of the hit program.

Murphy said, every year we will be populating a new group. The process has started already. The second season of the show saw Chord Overstreet introduced as Sam Evans. Nothing could be more depressing than seeing a high school student that has a bald spot. You need to stay true to the reality that a group of high school kids come and go into the lives of the teachers. They graduate and then are gone.

The popularity of the show does suggest that several of the breakout stars, including Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron may leave for other opportunities during the next few years anyway. Their graduating from McKinley High undoubtedly will ramp the show’s drama up.

Murphy said, when some of the characters graduate, the episodes will be real tear jerkers.

Meanwhile a report in the New York Post on Thursday reports that Katie Couric, the CBS news anchor, will be joining Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears and other guest stars on Glee. According to an inside source, Couric has committed to an appearance in a scene involving Sue Sylvester, Jane Lynch’s character, in the post Super Bowl show episode. It is expected that the cast will be performing “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. Couric was one of the critics of some of the racy poses by Glee cast members in last month’s GQ issue.

The “Glee” appearance of Couric’s hasn’t been confirmed by either the show or her representative.
